Obituary for Elaine “Cookie” Vrouhas

Elaine “Cookie” (Delazanos) Vrouhas, 82, of Chelmsford passed away peacefully on Monday, October 10, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Spiro Vrouhas to whom she was married for 53 years. She was born in Lowell on February 10, 1940 and was the daughter of the late George and Bessie (Helas) Delazanos.

Cookie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She and her husband were the proud owners of Spiro's Eggs, an egg retail and wholesale business founded in 1958. After the passing of her beloved Spiro, Cookie devoted herself to her family and her parish. Cookie was a lifelong member of the St. Philip Ladies’ Society “Agape” and received the Metropolis of Boston Ministry Award for her many years of dedicated service to St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church of Nashua, NH.

Cookie is survived by her daughter, Maryanne Squeglia and her husband Jason of Dunstable; a daughter-in-law, Paula Vrouhas, widow of her son, the late Dino Vrouhas of Chelmsford; three grandsons, Spiro C. Vrouhas and his partner Dr. Larry Luchsinger of Manhattan, NY, Spencer Vrouhas and his wife Bethany of Dunstable, and Anthony Squeglia of Dunstable; one granddaughter, Liana Squeglia of Dunstable; two great grandchildren, Theo and Callie Vrouhas of Dunstable; a sister, Sophia Cakounes and her husband Peter of Dracut; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Pitarys of Hollis, NH. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, October 13th from 4pm to 7pm at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10am at St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 West Hollis St, Nashua. Kindly gather at the Church. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, LOWELL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 West Hollis St., Nashua, NH 03062.
