Edward A. Eastman Jr., age 82 years, a 22 year resident of North Chelmsford, formerly of Tewksbury and Medford, passed away at home on October 6th, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Eleanor (Waite) Eastman with whom he enjoyed 59 years of marriage. They met in high school (Room 21) and were together for over 63 years.
Ed was born in Medford on June 19, 1940, and was the son of the late Edward A. Sr. and Anna Statia (Donohoe) Eastman.
He graduated from Medford High School in 1958, then attended Industrial Technical School in Boston, graduating with honors, leading to a long and distinguished career as an HVAC Technician with pipefitters Local 537. In retirement he pursued many hobbies, including woodworking and making wooden pens and workbenches for his children and grandchildren, etc. He also enjoyed building elaborate model ships, and in his last years, he put his love of fire engines into designing and building, from scratch, a fully operational and remarkably authentic hook and ladder fire engine, having the honor of presenting it at the Chelmsford Fire Station Halloween Open House in 2019.
Ed also loved being with his buddies for their card games, golf and in later years enjoyed weekly breakfast meet-ups with close friends. He and Ellie were always grateful for the warm company of many couples throughout the years, sharing everything from a local dinner to a memorable European adventure. He was always extremely proud of his family and the closeness that they all shared was a joy to him. He lived and loved without reserve. He was a very good man.
In addition to his loving wife, Eleanor, Ed is survived by his wonderful sons, Edward, Michael, Steven, and his wife Joanna; his grandchildren, Shawn, Alex, Taylor, Katherine, Elizabeth, and Ramona, and one great grandchild, James. He also leaves his brothers; Richard and his wife, Kathleen, and Charles, and many cousins, nephews, neighbors and dear friends.
He was predeceased by his mother and father, Edward Arthur and Anna Statia Eastman and his mother and father-in-law, John Gilman and Ramona Phyllis Waite.
