Obituary for Earle Frederick McQuaide Jr.
Earle F. McQuaide, Junior died peacefully at his home in Lowell on December 10, 2018 at age 88. Beloved husband of Barbara S. (Lloyd) McQuaide, father of Earle McQuaide III and his wife Denise of Chelmsford, Bill McQuaide and his wife Debra of Andover, Scott McQuaide and his wife Susan of Chelmsford, Warren McQuaide of Tyngsboro, and Jay McQuaide and his wife Martha of Andover. Loving grandfather to Brian, Brett, Ben, Jenny, Luke, Scotty, Kyle, Kate, Max, Madison, Micah, Molly, Ryan and Christopher. Earle was born in 1930 in Lowell to Earle F. McQuaide and his wife Marion. He attended the Lowell Public Schools and Lowell Technological Institute and enjoyed a 35-year career at Velcro Industries in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Most important to Earle were his family and his faith.
He married his childhood sweetheart, Barbara, and was devoted to her for more than 63 years. Together they raised five sons. Nothing in the world made Earle happier or gave him greater pride than cheering for his sons and grandchildren at a wrestling meet, football game, recital or other extracurricular activity.
Passionate supporters of wrestling, Earle and Barbara were recently celebrated for their lifelong commitment to the sport, and to Lowell High School. They also took great joy in hosting their large extended family at their summer cottage in New Hampshire. Later in life, Earle became an avid gardener and would spend countless hours tending to his fruits and vegetables. He often joked about being the only resident on his street to grow both vegetables and Christmas trees.
Earle also had a deep and abiding faith and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior while a newly married young man. Earle attended both Lawrence Street Primitive Methodist Church in Lowell and Grace Chapel in Lexington and was active in numerous church ministries.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 11:30am at Grace Chapel, 59 Worthen Road, Lexington.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Lowell, 657 Middlesex Street, Lowell, MA 01851.
