Earl Frances Plummer, Jr, age 84, passed away peacefully at the High Pointe House in Haverhill, Ma on June 4, 2021.
Earl was born in Cambridge Mass on February 14, 1937, he is survived by his wife, Mary T. Plummer. They would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary June 11th, he is also survived by his four children Cathy Ann Brackett and her husband Tom of Hudson, NH, Connie Marie Mason of South Carolina, Cindy Lee Brown and her husband Robert of Chelmsford, Ma. and his son Earl F. Plummer, III and his wife Janice of Billerica Ma. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Margaret and Earl Plummer, Sr., his two sisters Jean and Nancy.
Earl grew up and graduated in Belmont, MA. He enlisted in the Army in 1956 and served our country in Korea. He had several jobs along the way but most notable was being a truck driver. In his early retirement he became ‘Earl the bus driver’ and will always be remembered for playing Sweet Caroline on his bus.
Earl was a kind and gentle man who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was the life of the party always telling jokes, some clean some not and if you had never met him before you were a new audience. He was very supportive of his wife who has been disabled all her life. He became very involved in New England Sports Association where he helped the disabled learn to ski. He was a volunteer for over 20 years. An Award was named in his honor which is called “The Earl Plummer Award” only awarded to a non-disabled volunteer.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 from 9:00 – 11:00 am at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. His Funeral Service will follow at 11 o’clock in the funeral home. Interment will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.
