Obituary for Donald F. Rickert

Donald F. Rickert, age 87, of Nashua, NH, formerly a longtime resident of Chelmsford passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 7th, 2021. He was the loving husband of Charlotte (Gilet) Rickert, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.

He was born on December 30, 1933 in Fulton, NY and was the son of the late Edmund Rickert and Agnes (McHale) Rickert.

Donald was raised and educated in Fulton, NY. After graduating high school, he entered the United States Air Force and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Following his service commitment, Donald graduated with a degree in Physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. Applying his BS in Physics, he spent his professional career in Engineering, R&D and Sales in the technology industry. Like his father, Donald had an affinity for woodworking. He was quick-witted, always reciting rhymes, telling stories or cracking jokes appropriate for the situation. He especially enjoyed his summers up at the camp at Cobbetts Pond in Windham, NH where he took great pride in caring for the property.

In addition to his wife Charlotte, Donald is survived by his three children, Donald E. Rickert of Nashua, NH, Joseph A. Rickert and his wife Geri (Levine) Rickert of Santa Rosa, CA and Theresa (Rickert) Cannizzaro and her husband Scott Cannizzaro of Santa Barbara, CA, his four grandchildren, Sydney Rickert, Mitchell Rickert, Ava Cannizzaro and Mia Cannizzaro; also his sister Annette (Penny) Oliver and her husband Ernie Oliver of Milford, CT, and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister Mary Rickert Dempsey and his brother Edmund C. Rickert.

Due to gathering limitations, services will be held privately. A memorial service will be planned for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, an optional donation to a favorite charity can be made in his memory.
