Obituary for Donald J. Grady

Donald J. Grady, age 82, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away at Lowell General Hospital on Monday, May 2, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Caroline (Chase) Grady with whom he enjoyed 30 years of marriage.

He was born in Lowell on February 9, 1940 and was the son of the late Albert and Hedwidge (Tremblay) Grady.

Donald was raised and attended schools in Lowell. After school he immediately joined the work force to help support his large family. One of his jobs was managing Jack’s Drum Shop in Lowell. This led to a lifetime passion for drumming. Donald loved jazz and drummed with many local bands. He stayed proficient on the drums up until his last months. He later made a career in the electronics industry. Donald had an interest in trains, antiques, and all things mechanical. He cherished his time spent with family and friends.

In addition to his loving wife, Donald is survived by his children; Donald J. Grady, Jr. and his wife Sandie of Clearwater, FL., James Grady of Nashua, NH., Scott Grady and his wife Suzanne of Hillsborough, NH., Tina Curtin and her husband Michael of Goffstown, NH., and his stepson James Collette and his wife Ona of Las Vegas, his 8 grandchildren and his 4 great-grandchildren. Donald also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was sadly predeceased by his siblings; Ralph, Roland, Roger, Raymond, Rita, Doris, and Estelle.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, May 5th from 4pm to 7pm at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. Funeral Services and Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Wounded Warriors at woundedwarriorproject.org.
