CHELMSFORD - Dale Grove, a longtime resident of Chelmsford and former longtime resident of Billerica, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at the E. N. Rogers Memorial Veteran's Hospital in Bedford. He was the beloved husband for 59 years of Eva M. (Richard) Grove.
He was born in Norwood on May 2, 1940 and was a son of the late Leo and Marjorie (Brown) Grove.
Dale was a disabled veteran of the United States Navy.
Prior to his retirement, Dale started out his career as a machinist at GE in Lynn MA. After serving several years at GE, he moved on to Polaroid in Waltham MA as a mechanical engineer where he served 15 years. From their he moved on to NYPRO Corporation, in Clinton MA, where he worked his way up to Global Director of Engineering. There he really started to take off in his career. He had such a passion for his work. By this time he was well known in the plastics industry. While working his full time job at NYPRO, Dale used to take on consulting work. He helped a company develop and design contact lenses for chickens. He told his family it helped make the chickens calm, which would help them feed better. One of his proud moments in life was a consulting job he took on for Polaroid where he designed Sand, Wind and Dust goggles for Desert Storm. At this point in his career Dale made the decision to leave NYPRO after 15 years of service and start his own company as CEO of Optimum Systems Technologies in Billerica MA where he finished his career.
He was a communicant of St. Mary Parish in Chelmsford and an active member of the Franco American Club in Lynn. Dale enjoyed fishing and his bowling league. Dale was a devoted family man and he loved being with his children and grandchildren. He especially cherished his memories of his time spent with them when they were babies.
In addition to his loving wife, Dale is survived by his children; Michael Grove of Nashua, NH, Julie Buckley and her husband Edward of Chelmsford, and Kenneth Grove and his wife Leanne of Hudson, NH, and his seven grandchildren; Brian, Katherine, Devin, Alison and Erin Buckley and Kylie and Brady Grove. He also leaves a brother, Paul Grove of Saugus and a sister Sandra Bunker of New Hampshire, and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, May 16th from 4 to 7 pm at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen Street, Chelmsford.
His Funeral Service will be celebrated on Friday May 17th at 10 o'clock at the Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
