NORTH CHELMSFORD- Cresse Bogis, age 89, a resident of North Chelmsford, died peacefully Monday, April 29, at Sunny Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chelmsford, MA.

Cresse was born in Cambridge, MA, daughter of Ethel and Nicholas Ballas. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Manuel “Manny” Bogis, to whom she was married for 62 years. Cresse graduated from Somerville High School in 1944, and went on to marry Manny on October 3, 1947. Cresse was employed by a variety of firms as a bookkeeper and payroll clerk, retiring from Hillside Designs Interior Decorating firm in 1984.

After retirement, Cresse and Manny sold their home and enjoyed traveling in their motorhome until 1992. They crisscrossed the country many times in their RV over the course of eight years. After much traveling, they purchased a condominium in North Chelmsford. They continued to spend summers for 25 years at the Seaview Campground in Eastport, ME. Cresse was an avid quilter and superb cook. She also loved to knit and crochet. As each of her great grandchildren were born, she made special quilts and blankets for them. Cresse and Manny enjoyed camping with and caring for their grandchildren when they were young. Cresse was also a consummate host, having held many house parties and campground family gatherings.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John M. Bogis and his wife Zoe Caulfield of Winchester; a daughter and son-in-law, Valerie Diggs and her husband Glenn of North Chelmsford; six grandchildren, George and his wife Sue, Paul and his wife Amy, Chris, Marina, Athena and her husband Luke, and Elizabeth; and eleven great grandchildren, Alexis, Dylan, Emma, Elise, Stella, Eli, Mae, Cassandra, Linden, Will and Logan. Cresse also leaves her sister in law, Penelope Ballas, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Charles Ballas of Augusta GA and the late Peter Ballas of Santa Fe NM.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10 o'clock at the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, 25 Father John Sarantos Way, Lowell. KINDLY MEET AT THE CHURCH. Dear Valerie,
I remember when your Mom and Dad would arrive in their beautiful motor home and you would tell me " My mom's in the kitchen cooking." Please accept our sincere condolences for your loss. It is always hard to say " Good-bye " to a parent.
Warm regards, John and Kathleen Maloney
