Obituary for Clara B. Halas (Kanclerowicz)

Clara B. (Kanclerowicz) Halas, a resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 15, 2018 in the company of her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late John I. Halas who passed away in 1973.

She was born in Chelsea, MA on April 8, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Stefan and Beatrice (Andrzejewski) Kanclerowicz.

Clara was raised in Chelsea where she lived most of her life until moving to Chelmsford 27 years ago.

She started her career as a switchboard operator at the Chelsea Naval Hospital during WWII. After spending many years raising her family, she returned to work at Sears and the Chelsea Savings Bank until her retirement. In her spare time, Clara treasured vacationing in the White Mountains, shopping, playing cards and games, including LCR. She especially enjoyed her travels with her sister and best friend, the late Dolly Reardon. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and supporting her grandchildren's activites.

Clara is survived by her daughters; Diane Halas of Lake Bluff, IL, Dorothy Crone and her husband Mario of Billerica, and Elizabeth "Betty" Ashley and her husband Christopher of Chelmsford, daughter-in-law, Amelia Halas of Malden, and was the proud "Babci" to nine grandchildren; Jennifer D'Amico, John V. Halas, Stephanie Chiuve and her husband Steven Vinci, Laura Witter and her husband Brian, Hillary and Matthew Crone, Jacob, Jesse, and Julia Ashley, and seven great-grandchildren; Victoria, Richard, William and Eva D'Amico, Charlie and Madeline Chiuve Vinci, and Logan Witter. Clara was predeceased by her son, John M. Halas and her siblings; Salome McCann and Henry Kanclerowicz, and Dolores "Dolly" Reardon.

Visiting hours will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 pm on Sunday, Nov. 18, at the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Monday at 9 o'clock at St. Mary Parish, 25 North Rd., CHELMSFORD. KINDLY MEET AT CHURCH. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, 302 Elm St., EVERETT. Memorial donations in Clara's name may be made to Home for Little Wanderers, www.give@thehome.org.
