Obituary for Claire Theresa Elizondo-Monteer (Greenier)

Claire Theresa (Greenier) Elizondo-Monteer, age 82, a longtime resident of Lowell, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Lowell General Hospital, following a lengthy illness.

She was born on March 31, 1938 in Lowell and was the daughter of the late John and Irene Greenier. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Claire. She loved being around her lifelong friends and seeing her great grandchildren and collecting pictures and letters from them. She treasured them and saved all of them. She loved to collect knicknacks especially angels. Her personality was contagious to all and she easily made friends and family smile. She loved going to beaches and lakes and loved bragging about her tan. She had a quick wit and would always have a comeback no matter the topic.

She leaves behind her children: Billy Monteer from Lowell, Clayton Monteer from Concord, Brian Monteer from Puyallup, Washington, Teresa Neely from Kansas City, Missouri, Richard Monteer from Glendale, Arizona and Gary Monteer from Charleston, South Carolina and her many grandchildren and siblings: John Grenier from Land O Lakes, Florida, Shirley Yagla from Beloit, Wisconsin, Richard Greenier from Springhill, Florida, Arline Surkis from Weeki Wachee, Florida.

Sadly, in addition to her parents, she was predeceased by; Her Son Michael Monteer, her daughter Michelle Sater and Jeanette Bridges.

Due to gathering limitations, Funeral Services and Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Claire’s memory to Saint Jude’s Research Hospital for Children, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or stjude.org/memorial.
