Christle J. (Hutchings) Sorli, a long time resident of Chelmsford and beloved wife of the late Duncan Sorli, mother to Duncan, Christopher, and Brita, proud Nana to Duncan, Lilia, Hayden, Jeni, Kya, and Bryn, dear sister to Karla (Hutchings) Conway, and loving aunt to Kim and Mark, passed on April 10, 2021 to join her soul mate, Duncan, who departed just two weeks before. As high school sweethearts, Christle and Duncan enjoyed 65 years of love and devotion in marriage.

Christle was born in Bangor, Maine, raised in Billerica, and graduated from Northeastern University and Fitchburg State. As a kindergarten teacher in Chelmsford for many years, Christle took joy in teaching two generations of children in town without a single name lost in her memory. An avid reader, Christle loved spending time with her family and shared a mutual love with all animals, domesticated and wild, furry or feathered. Not a creature would pass her home without a stop to say hello and thank you. Christle and Duncan were recognized around town, first on their tandem bike with Fancy riding in the bike trailer and more recently riding their scooters with Jessie on board. Christle enjoyed her visits to Acadia National Park and loved her home and yard sanctuary as much as any place on Earth.

There will be no services; however, please read a book or sing to a child in Christle’s memory. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970 or

My husband coached a young girls' soccer team. Their practices took place at Roberts Field. On this particular day during practice Mrs. Sorli appeared at the edge of the field with her dog. Within minutes more than half of the team left the field and ran over to greet their beloved teacher/friend. She was a special lady. I worked at Polaroid with your dad for many years. I am deeply saddened by the loss of your parents. May they Rest in Peace.

Please accept my deepest sympathy on the passing of both your parents. I live on Thomas Dr. and my husband and I always enjoyed meeting up with your mom and dad as we walked the neighborhood.
Your mother was my daughter Laura’s kindergarten teacher at Harrington School. Laura loved Mrs. Sorli and she flourished in that important year of school. As the years went by, your mother never failed to ask how Laura was doing.
Our whole neighborhood will miss seeing the friendly and kind faces of Christle and Duncan. May the loving memories you have bring a smile to your face during this sad time.

Thank you so much Mrs. Kilroy. We are also so sorry for your tremendous loss. Mom was shocked when I told her about Bob. May you find peace in happy memories. ❤️
