Obituary for Charles Peter Hoefler

Charles Peter Hoefler, August 28, 1933 – December 3, 2020. Charlie spent his childhood years in Newark, New Jersey. After school he would hop on his bicycle and deliver groceries for Mr. Myers, the local butcher. His pockets full of change were saved for visits to the magic shop to chat with the owner and sometimes to purchase a coveted illusion. Over the years he entertained his sister, his children, and his grandchildren with his magic act, severing arms and floating balls suspended in midair.

At a USO dance while stationed at Fort Devens, he met his future wife, Dorothy E. Sjobohm. They married and started a new life in Chelmsford, MA. Charlie worked as a teller and eventually as a branch manager at the Lexington Trust Company/Shawmut Bank in Bedford, MA. Following his retirement, his love of books and old movies led him to a part time job working for Barnes and Nobel in Nashua, NH, where he could share his passion and expertise with like minded people.

Charlie was an entertainer, a singer, a storyteller, an impersonator - who put smiles on countless faces. The world is a little less funny without him.

He leaves his daughter, Susan Adams and husband Carl; son Peter Hoefler and wife Michelle; grandchildren, Robert Linnaeus, James McCarthy and wife Chelsea; nieces Debbie Brody Jascur and Karen Boher.

A private memorial service will be held for family members.
