Carolyn L. (Madden) (Baker) Millard, age 84, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away at Chelmsford Crossings on Friday, May 6, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald S. Millard with whom she enjoyed 30+ years of marriage.
She was born in Stoneham on May 30, 1937 and was the daughter of the late William G. and Marion L. (Livingston) Madden.
She grew up in a family who always had their doors open to everyone and everybody with a hot pot of coffee. Carolyn was a Medford High School graduate, class of 1955 and graduated from Bridgewater State Teachers College, class of 1959. She continued on to teach ESL for 20+ years from Littleton, Colorado to Chelmsford, Massachusetts, eventually receiving recognition from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
She was very involved in her community including; Alpine Square Dancing, Friends of the Chelmsford Library, New England Quilt Museum, and Chelmsford Quilting Guild in addition to singing in the choir at Central Congregational Church and her beloved Songweavers out of Concord, NH. You could regularly find Carolyn in the back yard on Westford St. enjoying a cup of tea, reading a book and taking in all of what nature had to offer. These memories were shared consistently with her special Book Group friends. (You all know who you are. “My wonderful friends”).
Carolyn is survived by her 2 sons; Trevor Baker and his partner Robin Ebert of Columbia, SC., and Todd Baker and his wife Lori of Salem, NH., her daughter Elaine Rogers and her husband Doug of Westford, her grandchildren; Shauna Rogers and her husband Mike Avallone of Westford, and Christopher and Jessica Rogers of Ipswich, her 4 “wonderful” great grandchildren, and her dear sister-in-law, Jeanne M. Madden of North Andover. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong dear friends.
Carolyn was predeceased by her brother, Paul W. Madden, aka “Pa”
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from 12pm-2pm at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. Masks are preferred. A Funeral Service will follow at 2pm in the funeral home. Friends are invited to attend a small reception at Central Congregational Church, Chelmsford, immediately following the service.
Inurnment will be held on Friday May 13, 2022 at 1pm at Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford. Kindly meet at the cemetery.
