Obituary for Carol A. Shestok (Bucks)

Dr. Carol Ann (Bucks) Shestok, of Pelham, NH, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2022 surrounded by her loving family, after a 5-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was the beloved wife of Peter M. Shestok, having enjoyed 56 years of marriage together.

Carol was born on June 8, 1944 in Reading, PA, to her parents, Donald H. and Sophie E. (Guziak) Bucks. She was a lifelong educator who began her teaching career in Reading, PA, eventually receiving her BA and Master’s degrees from Kutztown University in Pennsylvania. The only time she stepped away from the classroom was to raise her two sons, after which she continued to teach in Westford, MA for another 27 years. Along with devoting herself to teaching and family, Carol received her Doctorate in Education from The University of Massachusetts, The Presidential Award in Science and Mathematics, Middlesex County Teacher of the Year, The EPA Environmental Educator Award, and became a National Board-Certified Teacher, as well as numerous other awards, credentials, and commendations.

In addition to her commitment to excellence in all forms of early childhood education and learning, Carol’s love and affection for her husband and family was profound. She reveled in spending time together with family, whether it be sitting around in the living room chatting or cheering on her children’s and grandchildren’s various sporting events, activities, and careers. An avid reader, Carol was always eager to learn and know more, while her down-time included watching figure skating and real crime dramas, as well as collecting art and tchotchkes with pigs on them.

In addition to her loving husband, Carol is survived by her children, Todd Shestok and Jason Shestok, their spouses, Jennifer Moss and Shari Wilson, her grandchildren, Emmett Shestok and Sophie Shestok, her brother-in-law, Nicholas Shestok and his wife Judith, as well as extended family and friends.
