Obituary for Carmen Manso (Rodil Lopez)

Carmen (Rodil Lopez) Manso, 87, a resident of Chelmsford, formerly of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Viviano Manso with whom she shared 63 years of marriage.

She was born in Caibarien, Cuba on July 8, 1936, and was the daughter of the late Manuel Rodil Alvarez and Clotilde Lopez Gomez.

Carmen was raised in Caibarien, Cuba and graduated with a PHD in Philosophy. She moved to the United States in 1971 with her children where she obtained a teaching degree from Boston State College. She was a longtime resident of Cambridge and dedicated over 20 years to teaching in Cambridge Public Schools. She was a devout Catholic and longtime member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Cambridge.

In addition to her loving husband Viviano Manso, Carmen leaves behind her children, Luis Manso and his wife Flavia Salcedo as well as his step daughter Vianise and her three children of Dorchester, Margarita Manso-Rosa and her husband Joci Rosa of Chelmsford, and Andrew Manso and his wife Brenda Manso of Scarborough, Maine; her grandchildren, George Manso of Norfolk, Chloe Rosa and Kyle Rosa of Chelmsford, Noelani Manso of Dorchester, and Gabriella and Aria Manso of Scarborough, Maine, and her great-granddaughter Clara. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Ester Rodil, her nephews Manolo and Mecho Rodil, and her nieces Lourdes and Carmencita.

Sadly, she was predeceased by her siblings Nemesio Rodil and Manolin Rodil.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 13, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Mary Parish, 25 North Road, Chelmsford. KINDLY GATHER AT THE CHURCH. Interment to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chelmsford. Memorial donations may be made to the Dementia Society of America at dementiasociety.org.
