Obituary for Bernard E. Boyt

Bernard E. Boyt, 89, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Care One at Concord, with his loving daughter Teri, holding his hand through his final moments and all of his family members sending love and prayers from home. He was the beloved husband of the late Joan, Mary Gail, and Mary Lou Boyt.

He was born on April 11, 1931 in Needham, MA, and was a son of the late Bernard and Marie E. Boyt.

Bernard was raised in Needham and was a graduate of Needham High School with the Class of 1949. He attended Burdett Business college and then went on to work for Raytheon where he was a business manager for 47 years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time doing yardwork at home. He never missed his Sunday breakfast at James’ Breakfast and More in Wrentham, owned by his granddaughter and her husband. Until very recently, he worked at L.L. Bean in Burlington for 11 years. He had many friends who he loved keeping in touch with. Most of all, Bernard cherished the time he spent with his family. He was always smiling and loved a good joke. His smile and positive spirit will be missed dearly.

Bernard leaves his children; Teri Toubeau of Norfolk, Gary Boyt of Bellingham, Elden Boyt of Franklin, and Lisa Lamoureux and her husband, John of Pelham, NH; his 13 grandchildren: Dennis, David, Coryn, Chelsea, Alexa, Austin, Tommy, Amy, Jen, Brittany, Melissa, Jessica, and Raymond; his 14 great-grandchildren; his sister Theresa Fontannay of Burlington; his niece Anne Canfield and her husband, Michael; and his nephew Michael Fontannay and his wife, Brenda.

Sadly, he is predeceased by his daughter Karen Simpson and his brother-in-law Frederick L. Fontannay.

Due to gathering limitations, Funeral Services and Interment will be held privately. A celebration of his life will be held at a future date. Memorial donations may be made in Bernard’s name to the American Cancer Society, 3 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or cancer.org.
