Annette M. (Fiorenza) McClure passed away peacefully on Thursday March 4th, 2021, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert E. “Bob” McClure.
Born in 1934 in Boston, Annette was the daughter of the late Ceasare and Mary Fiorenza. She grew up in Arlington until moving to Chelmsford in 1959. Her large extended and crazy Italian family was an important part of Annette’s upbringing; Sunday dinners, holiday gatherings, family outings. Those traditions continued throughout her life.
On Feb. 1, 1953 at the tender age of 19, she married the love of her life, Bob McClure, a handsome Irish boy from Arlington. They shared 63 “mostly” wonderful years together. They enjoyed traveling extensively in the US and abroad and loved spending winters at Sun n’ Fun in Florida. A couple of their most memorable trips were going cross country in their RV, cruises with friends and family, Tahiti for their 25th Anniversary, too many trips to Italy to count, and Australia to visit their grandson studying abroad.
One of Annette’s proudest accomplishments was landing a job at F.S. Moseley as an executive assistant, right out of high school. She worked there with her sisters Sally and Jean. She then went on to be an executive secretary at many well-known companies, the last being Raytheon from where she retired. She took a break from work to dedicate her life to being a mother and wife. She enjoyed cooking for the family, dinner at 5:00 sharp, and you better be there. She had a wonderful group of friends on Gail St., enjoying coffee times at each other’s houses while sharing their trials and tribulations as new mothers. She also enjoyed, bowling, square dancing, bridge, and in her later years the Senior Center. She had a passion for gardening and took great pride in her yard. She loved hosting parties and did so with ease. She was instrumental in keeping her extended family & beloved cousins together. None of us will ever forget her elaborate Christmas Eves for 40-50 people and her Easter Egg Hunts.
What Annette treasured more than anything in this world were her children, grandchildren, & great grandchildren. There were many wonderful memories of vacations to York Beach, Winnipesaukee, Florida, family cruises and a special trip on the RV planned for each grandchild. What will be remembered most is her generosity, kindness, and her smile.
Annette was the loving mother of Pamela Dawson, Laura Casey, and Robert E. McClure Jr. and his wife Amy, cherished grandmother of nine grandchildren; Eric Dawson and his wife Jamie, Ryan Dawson and his fiancé Jordyn, Ashley Dawson, Ed Casey and his wife Lauren, Maryellen Ciardiello and her husband Marcus, Kayla Ball and her partner Brandon, Caroline Jacobs and her husband Vincent, Alexandra Dawson, and Dylan McClure and great-grandmother of seven great-grandchildren; Jacob Dedominicis, Chayce, Emery, Hunter, and Jackson Dawson, Callie Casey, and Jonathan Ciardiello. She also leaves her sister Jean Knott, her in-laws; Paul Sweeney , Kathleen Muldoon and Tina Fiorenza and many beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Annette was pre-deceased by her son-in-law, Edward Casey, brother Robert Fiorenza, her sister Sally Sweeney, and her in-laws; Larry Knott, Thomas Muldoon, William & Donna McClure, Pat Darcy, Ruth & Harry Colton and her beloved dog, Jesse.
