Obituary

Loving wife, and mother

Anne Margaret (Thayer) Dean, of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.

Anne was born in Boston, MA, to William and Edna (Hjelm) Thayer. She was raised in Milton and Burlington, MA and received her teaching degree from Boston State. On August 17, 1963 she married Charles W. Dean and they raised their three children in Billerica and Chelmsford, MA. Anne and Charles celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary this past August.

Upon her retirement as an Office Manager at Chelmsford Pediatrics, Anne and her husband relocated to Vero Beach, Florida where they spent many wonderful years. Anne enjoyed visits with her family, golfing, volunteering her time with the Adult Literacy Program and getting together with her many friends. She loved watching her grandchildren grow up. She attended their graduations, weddings and was very proud of all their accomplishments. She welcomed her seven great-grandchildren with joy and happiness.

Anne was pre-deceased by her parents and older brother, William Thayer. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Charles Dean and his wife Guin, her daughters; Julie Anne Dean and her husband Ken Caisse and Cheryl MacDonald and her husband Matt, her grandchildren; Matthew MacDonald and wife Kerry, Kayla MacDonald, Alyssa (Dean) Maurice and her husband Steven, Amy (Quirbach) Boudreau and her husband James, Jessica Quirbach, Anthoni Caisse, Kierra Dean, and Chas Dean, great-grandchildren; Autumn, Gavin, Declan, Adalynn, Maren, Emilia, and Phoebe, her brother, Charles Thayer, her sisters-in-law; Julie Hall, and Diana Brown and her partner Peter Dwyer, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Bridges by Epoch in Nashua and Merrimack Valley Hospice Care, especially her nurses, Chris, Ester and Helena who provided compassionate care for Anne.

Funeral Services will be held privately. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Anne’s memory be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice at www.homehealthfoundation.org/donate

We are so sad that our dear friend of over 60 years is no longer with us. Anne and I first met our freshman year at Boston State College. Anne, Wes, Bill and I had so many fun times during those years. We continued to see each other fairly regularly after we all married, even though we no longer lived near one another. We were often invited to spend time at their time-shares. We all enjoyed exploring historical places, going on a cruise together through the Panama Canal, and playing lots of cards. Anne was such a smart, caring , loving person. She will be greatly missed. Our hearts do out to Wes, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. We are all better for having known her.

Dear Wes ~ So sad to read about Anne’s death and your loss. I had been trying to get in touch with you but was unable to do so.
I have so many fond memories of the great times I shared with Anne in our Ladies’ Golf League at Sandridge Golf Club. She was a very competitive and great golfer and well-liked in our league! I also lost the “love of my life” on October 19, 2020. Max would have been 91 years old on December 23rd, which also would have been our 65th Wedding Anniversary. The four of us often met at Publix where we always enjoyed a good chat! May wonderful memories of your life with Anne always keep her alive in your heart and may God give you peace, comfort and understanding during these difficult days. With deepest sympathy ~ Elaine Moore - Vero Beach, FL.

Anne was my first friend I made in Burlington, we were 10 years old when I moved there. I had so many fantastic sleep overs, Four H's experiences and just being friends together. Through the years we didn't see each other often, but we did manage a couple of get togethers in Florida. Thank you for those who posted pictures, it brought back great memories. Thoughts and prayers are being sent to Wes and the children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, you had a special person in your life.
A special thoughts to Wes who was always there for Anne and so good for her. Take care.
Barbara (MacKay) Lussier. Love to all
