Obituary

Angela Elizabeth McCarthy, age 31, a resident of Reading, MA, died peacefully after a long illness on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Winchester Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Winchester, MA on May 3, 1989 and was the daughter of Paul G. McCarthy of Worcester, MA, and Joanne T. (Marino) McCarthy of Reading, MA.

In her youth Angela attended Lexington Public Schools and was involved in activities such as swim team, soccer, and soft ball. She graduated Minuteman Technical High School in 2008 with a focus on Culinary Arts where she learned the craft of making delicious food as well as graciously serving guests who visited the school’s restaurant. Following High School Angela furthered her education, attending North Shore Community College, and then eventually transferred to Fisher College in Boston, MA where after much hard work and dedication, she graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management.

Angela worked in several customer service focused roles beginning in High School and throughout College, consisting of grocery stores and restaurants. She held internships at hotels while still in College and then following graduation was hired at Hilton Boston/Woburn where she worked as a Hostess in their restaurant as well as a Concierge for hotel guests. Angela was remarkable for providing exemplary customer service with a warm smile and cheerful personality to any customer/guest she encountered. Her commitment to her role and responsibilities was exemplified in her early mornings and late nights, sometimes working up to 70 hours in a week while holding down two-jobs.

In her free time Angela enjoyed going for walks, particularly Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield, MA, going for drives in her car, watching television, and spending time with close friends. Angela was a devout Roman Catholic who enjoyed making visits to St. Patrick’s Parish in Stoneham, MA, and especially St. Joseph Parish in Wakefield, MA, where she would attend Sunday Mass most commonly. She prayed the Holy Rosary and wore the Brown Scapular, as well as the Miraculous Medal.

Angela was adored by her three brothers whom she loved dearly: Gregory T. McCarthy and his wife Rachael of Brunswick, ME, James P. McCarthy of Chelsea, MA, and Joseph D. McCarthy and his wife Faith of Chelmsford, MA. She is also survived by two nephews, Liam and Jacob. Angela will be extremely missed by her Mother and Father who loved her very much. In addition, she will be lovingly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Sadly, she is predeceased by her Grandmother Angela (DeLorenzo) Marino, her Nana Elizabeth Goudreau McCarthy (Feeley), and Grandfather Thomas J. McCarthy.

Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, November 27, 2020 from 3:00 – 6:00 pm in the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford.
