Obituary for Alice L. Dossett (Torcomian)

Alice L. Dossett, 95, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Blaire House of Tewksbury. She was the beloved wife of the late James Dossett with whom she shared 60 years of marriage before his passing in 2014.

She was born on June 11, 1925 in Lowell, MA and was a daughter of the late Toros and Shooshan “Lily” (Baligian) Torcomian.

Alice was an active member of Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Church in Chelmsford where she attended Sunday School and sang in the church choir for many years. She was a talented lyric soprano, and sang in the Erevan Choral Group of the Boston area under the direction of the late V. Rev. Oshagan Minassian. She spent many years in business with her husband Jim running Jamal Crane. Alice was extremely artistic in mediums from sewing, millinery and furs. She was a craftsman in oil painting as well as papier toll, a three-dimensional artwork that she perfected. She was a skilled writer and was a self- published author. In her spare time, Alice enjoyed gardening and spending time with her beloved family.

Alice leaves her daughter Dawn Cunningham and her husband Thomas whom she adored, her two grandchildren; Samantha Cahalane and her husband Kevin, and Spencer Cunningham, her two amazing great-grandchildren; Connor and Reilly Cahalane that meant the world to her. She also leaves her sister Annette Veiga of Lowell, and her sister-in-law Veronica Torcomian of Havertown, PA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her husband, Alice is predeceased by her twin brother Albert Torcomian and her sister Amy Gauvreau.

Due to gathering limitations, Funeral Services and interment will be held privately. Memorial donations may be made in Alice’s memory to Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Church, 180 Old Westford Rd., Chelmsford, MA 01824.
